What we sell
Seven kinds of sign, eight colours, every one made to order.
| Sign type | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Door signs | Naming a room at the door — bedroom, bathroom, toilets, dining room, lounge. |
| Directional signs | Pointing the way along a corridor. |
| Orientational signs | Telling someone which floor or wing they are standing in. |
| Projecting signs | Read along a corridor rather than face-on. |
| Personalised signs | A resident's own name on their door, with a paper insert for a photograph or a memory cue. |
| Low-profile signs | Where a projecting sign will not fit. |
| Door decals | Covering or disguising a door you would rather people did not read as a door. |
Because every sign is made to order, the room name, the pictogram and the colour are chosen per sign rather than picked off a shelf. The customiser shows you what a single sign will look like before you order it.
What it costs, and how to get the number
Three ways, all free. Nothing on this page is a quotation until it has your building’s name on it.
- 1Ask us to price the whole building. Tell us the bed count and roughly what communal rooms there are, and we send back an itemised list: every sign, the wording on it, the room it belongs outside, and a price for the lot. This is how most of our buildings are quoted, and it is the one to use if your order will go through a purchase order or a committee. Price my whole long-term care home.
- 2Build the list yourself and watch the price. Describe the building — bedrooms, communal rooms, wings — and the whole-home tool returns a complete itemised basket you can edit line by line, with the price updating as you go. Buy it, or send it to us as an enquiry. Sign a whole long-term care home.
- 3Buy a few signs at the shop price. Every sign has its price on its own page, in CAD, and you can order as few as one. Browse the range or get a budget range first.
We make the signs ourselves
Signage for Care is the care brand of Wayfinders, and Wayfinders manufactures the signs to order.
Nothing you specify depends on a third party’s catalogue, so an odd room name, a non-standard quantity or a second order two years later is made from the same files as the first. It is also why a one-sign order and a whole-building order are the same conversation here rather than two different suppliers.
Designed to support provincial long-term care and Accreditation Canada standards
That is a statement about how we design our signs. It is not a statement about anybody else.
We design our signs to support provincial long-term care and Accreditation Canada standards for an environment people can find their way around: the room named in words, the same room pictured, high contrast between the text and the background, and the same picture meaning the same thing everywhere in the building.
Nobody has approved, endorsed or certified this company or anything we sell. Not a regulator, not a charity, not a health service. If a signage supplier tells you otherwise, ask them for the certificate and the date on it — and ask us for ours.
1A DSDC accredited
A named product of ours was assessed by specialists at the Dementia Services Development Centre, University of Stirling, against ten published product design principles, and classified for suitability of use.
DSDC's own guidance says the logo is awarded on the merit of the individual product and, where applicable, its colour-way, so an accreditation belongs to a product rather than to a company. The useful question to put to any signage supplier, including us, is “which product does your certificate name, and what date is on it?” We are not going to describe a wider scope or a renewal date we cannot put in front of you.

More than one long-term care home?
If you buy for several buildings, there is a separate page for you. It covers holding one specification across the group, a schedule and a price per building, and who places the order. In our own order book the buildings of a group have been quoted and ordered separately, weeks and months apart, so a rollout does not need one large central budget to start.
Not ready to order?
- Before you order — the four questions buyers asked us first: tax, arrows, free samples and what the accreditation means.
- Free printable door signs — twelve of them, free, to print on A4 this afternoon while a budget is being agreed.
- The complete guide to dementia-friendly signage — what makes a sign work, and how to plan a scheme for a whole building.
Price my whole long-term care home
Tell us about the building and we will send back a priced, itemised list — every sign, the wording on it and the room it belongs outside. There is no charge for it and nothing to commit to. If you would rather build the list yourself and see the prices as you go, the whole-home tool above does that.
