Castlebar Hospice, Creating a Dementia Friendly Environment
Working with O'Neill-O'Malley Architects, Castlebar Hospice, part of Mayo Roscommon Hospice, wanted to create a dementia friendly environment for their residents and visitors. Mayo Roscommon Hospice provides palliative care services to people with life-limiting illnesses and their families in County Mayo and County Roscommon. With both patients and visitors in mind, O'Neill-O'Malley Architects
contacted Signage For Care to help them to create an effective solution that not only catered for people living with dementia but also complimented the interior of the Hospice. Signage For Care's dementia friendly signs has been accredited by the Dementia Service Development Centre at the University of Stirling.
From this range of signs, the Oak 3D finish was chosen to be used for all signage throughout the building. Bespoke items were also created to meet the requirements of the project. A detailed sign schedule was created to provide everything both O'Neill-O'Malley Architects and Castlebar Hospice needed to understand how and where their new signage would be installed. Using directional and room signs, Signage For Care were able to provide clear and intuitive wayfinding throughout the building.
