Five questions buyers asked us
Before you order
Five things people wrote to ask us that this website never answered. Each answer below says where it came from, and where we cannot stand over an answer yet it says that instead.
Is VAT included in your prices?
No. The prices you see on this site are the price of the signs. VAT is added at the checkout step.
We measured it rather than assuming it. On 12 October 2026, on the euro store, a basket of EUR 1,560 became EUR 1,918.80 at the final checkout screen — the Irish standard rate of 23% applied at that point, and nowhere earlier in the journey.
That is one market measured end to end. Wherever you are ordering from, VAT is calculated at the checkout against your delivery address, so it follows the destination rather than our address in Dublin. Read the figure on a product page as the goods price.
Our written quotations are priced the same way — goods first, VAT shown separately — so a budget you build from the prices on this site matches the quotation you get from us. And we accept purchase orders. If your finance team needs the VAT treatment stated in writing before the order is raised, ask for it on the quotation.
What we have not done: re-measured the checkout in all six of our markets. If you need the exact figure for yours before you commit, build the basket and go as far as the final checkout screen. It is the last step before payment, it shows the tax line, and you can walk away from it.
Can you invoice us? Paying by purchase order
We accept purchase orders. Choose Purchase Order at the checkout payment step.
A Registered Manager walking this site put it in her finance officer's words: “can they invoice us”. The honest answer is the one above — Purchase Order is one of the payment options at our checkout — plus what to do with the part of the question we have not published an answer to.
So, in order: build the basket on this site, or describe the building and get it itemised room by room with a priced schedule you can print and send on. Then either take it to the checkout and choose Purchase Order at the payment step, or ask us for a written quotation to raise the order against. Our quotations price goods first with VAT shown separately, which is the form a finance officer needs to check it.
What we have not published, and will not invent here: anything beyond the sentence above. If your finance officer needs something agreed before an order can be raised — what to put on the order, who to address it to — say so when you ask for the quotation and a person answers it with your figures, rather than this page guessing at it on their behalf.
Which way does the arrow point — left or right?
You do not choose when you order. The arrow arrives detached, and you fit it once the sign is on the wall.
“The directional arrow arrives detached. You attach it to the sign once the sign is mounted to the wall. It makes it much easier to order as you don't need to figure out every direction in advance.”
Asked two days later whether the join would show, he said the arrows are a snug fit and that you would never know once they are installed.
So when you are counting up what to order, count directional signs by decision point and by wording, not by direction. A corridor plate reading “Rooms 18-23” is one line on your order whether it ends up pointing left or right, and the sign itself is 105 × 500 mm.
Can I get a free sample to show head office for approval?
Yes — if you are a registered care provider. That is the condition on the sample, and it is the only one.
It is a free mini sample of the sign in the colour you choose, made from the same acrylic with the same textured 3D print as the signs themselves. It is a physical thing, so it is something you can take into a meeting and hand round — which is exactly the job a care home manager told us in July 2026 she needed it for.
- Open the free mini sample listing.
- Choose the colour you want — all eight colours are options on the same listing, so add more than one if a committee needs to compare them.
- Use the Get Free Sample button, then complete the checkout. There is nothing to pay.
Our listing also says we will contact you to confirm your preference once a sample is ordered. What we will not do is put a despatch date on this page — that is a promise we cannot yet keep, and we would rather tell you so. If the sample does not arrive, or the button does nothing when you click it, email info@signageforcare.com and say which home you are from. One manager told us in July 2026 that the button did nothing for her, and we would far rather hear that than lose you.
If head office approves and wants to buy against a purchase order, we accept purchase orders.
What does “1A DSDC accredited” mean?
That a named product was assessed by specialists at the Dementia Services Development Centre, University of Stirling, against ten published product design principles, and classified for suitability of use.
It is not a score out of ten. DSDC's own guidance says the suitability of a product is classified “by a number with corresponding explanation of use, within a ratings key”, and that the logo is awarded “on the merit of the individual product and where applicable, colour-way”. So an accreditation belongs to a product and a colour-way, not to a company — which means the useful question to put to any signage supplier, including us, is “which product does your certificate name, and what date is on it?”
DSDC publishes an Accredited Products Directory. In the July 2023 edition, which we downloaded from dementia.stir.ac.uk on 16 October 2026, the Signage section lists one company — Wayfinders, who manufacture Signage for Care — with a 2018 entry for a toilet sign in eight colours: Garnet Red, Heather Purple, Carolina Blue, Veridian Green, Sage Brown, Oak, White Pine and Walnut.
That is what the public directory records, and you can check it yourself. It is not the same as the scope of a certificate, and we are not going to describe a wider scope, a rating level or a renewal date we cannot put in front of you. If it matters to a specification or a tender, ask us for the certificate and ask DSDC to confirm it.
Something else you need to know first?
Email info@signageforcare.com or call +44 2030 260034. If the question is about a whole building rather than a handful of signs, send the floor plans and we will come back with a priced schedule sign by sign.
